ART: Flat C, Pink Does Not Exist

http://www.flatclondon.co.uk/pink-does-not-exist/ Flat C is the brainchild of art curator Crystal Bennes (Filling Station,  SALON(London), and lots of other random stuff). After several frustrating no-gos with galleries covered in red tape, she decided to take it upon herself to set up her own. In her flat. And dubious as I was as to how this would work, it really did… and very well too. Her … Read More ART: Flat C, Pink Does Not Exist

Street Art: Shop Front Letters

These larger than life letters light up the shut shops of the streets of Hackney. Changing the gloomy grey (necessary) metal into the colourful initial of the name of the shop sleeping behind it. I think they might be a particularly east London thing. I have no idea of the history of these letters, but apparently they are the work of a street artist called Eine. … Read More Street Art: Shop Front Letters

When: 22 June – 6 July 2010 Where: 97 Clerkenwell Road, EC1R 5BX Crystal Bennes BA, MA, PhD is no doubt one of my more intellectual friends. She’ll take a disused space left … Read More Art: SALON (LONDON) Presents… ‘Secret’

Hackney Streets: London Fields

Snowy Hackney had its moments. A serene walk to work through London Fields made the morning “commute” peaceful, the barren fields feel romantic and the sound of crunching ice and snow beneath foot an aural novelty. But as the sun was shining down last week, I remembered how lovely it is in the summer, sitting on the grass with a BBQ and beers. Ahhhh…
